Tackling Fakebook

The German government is drafting regulation that would require Facebook and other online networks to respond to complaints about fake news and delete such content within 24 hours or face financial penalties. The measures, which will be presented to parliament in the next few weeks, are aimed at limiting the impact of fake news in a critical election year when the right-wing AfD party is standing at 12-15% support in polls.
